Hopefully I will be in. Along with a buddy or two and their cars. I have to be in ann arbor on the 15 so we will see. I don't want to stay down there for 3 nights, or really make the trip twice in three days, but I might work something out.

No, I'm throwing a new engine in, built up a little more than the last one. Should be just over 200hp. I'll lose a little bottom end and it will not start ot make any power unitl 3K, but it will scream like a raped ape after that :D:
Also adding a lot of other things: front mounted oil cooler with a tunnel, exactly like the original. Functioning brake cooling ducts. Original shifter and brake lever. plexi windshield (low, I'll need goggles). and a bunch of other "jewelry" details.

LOL.. well they're not going through Lansing on 96.. they ARE going through the northside of Lansing on 69. No need to do your own caravan, just meet up at one of the exits on 69. Lots of options along 69 in Lansing.. Grand River (west of Airport) there's a big Flying J Truck Stop, Airport Rd., Dewitt Rd., Old-127, or you can meet up just East of town out in Haslett at the M-78/Saginaw.
So, I guess I mean yes you can organize your own, but it'd still be cool to have it join in with the westsiders on the way by.
So yes, please join in! :)

not sure if we really need a pee break... it's only what a couple hour drive anyways? given that lot location at Flying J they would see us all on the way by and could just peel onto the 69 onramp and join in.
alternately it is a good halfway point if we do want a potty break spot. Opinions?
pee break spot yay or nay?

I'm inclined to agree with the Flying J stop in Lansing instead of a Rest Stop just before. It's right at the 96/69 merger, and it's a big truck stop so should have lots of room and it's a good halfway point. Plus since Lansing area MIVErs are gathering there anyways, let's just combine it for simplicities sake, then we can all roll back on the highway together. .
Plus big truck stops have plenty of bathroom break stalls, coffee refills, junk food, etc.
Pull off at Exit 90 (Grand River Ave.) off I-96... then when we leave there is an on-ramp to get directly on I-69 and we're on our way.

Less than that. We're meeting at Target which is Ext #43 and leaving at 7:15AM. We only have to go 47 miles to hit Exit #90 @ Flying J.
47 miles @ 70MPH = ~ 40 minutes.
I'd say the Lansing crew should be ready to roll by 7:45~8AM cuz if we leave by 7:15 we should be there no later than 8AM even if we leave a little late.

...after the organizers called the police to give them a heads up as a courtesy, the police set up a speed trap on the route at a speed limit change point and called the news to film it.

It makes total sense when you are in a large caravan, especially when there are visually modified cars. The cops tend to pay more attention, as do the truck drivers.
I remember with my Focus SVT, I went to a Focus meet up in Indiana, and we caravaned from Michigan. As soon as we got on 80 I think it was, the cops were at the toll station. They followed us. Most of the guys had slammed cars, some body kits, etc. They all pretty much stood out. The cops are just waiting for one person to f it up.
gti zach
05-03-2010, 10:06 PM
so if one guy f's up everyone gets pulled over? bc if thats the case then i wont speed. bc that at respectful to the other mivers with us!
Heavy Fluid
05-03-2010, 10:23 PM
Who knows what the cops will do? There isn't much of a need to speed when you are in a caravan. You are a representation to the brand, and to this site, just remember that. I am not lecturing anyone, so don't get me wrong. It just is foolish to do so.

I lost a shift bushing on the way out there. It fell out when I put a neuspeed short throw in there friday night and I must not have got it in right. Had a quick question, kind of off the wall actually.
On the way out, I saw a small caravan heading back, and recognized some of the cars from the GR caravan. You guys hit 75 N to 69 E I am assuming. I hit 75 S to 696 to 96 E back to Lansing.
I often hit up Sommerset in Troy, and Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills with my wife. We did map it out once, and it is a mile shorter if you hit 75 to 69 to get back to Lansing.
The show was south of Auburn Hills, and north of Troy, so if you guys hit 69, didn't you guys go further?

I just mapped them both out, Google and MapQuest, and Mapquest showed 69/75 and Google said use 96/75 which is 5 miles less.
I was just wondering, since you can go either way. If we leave that area during the week any time near 4 or 5 pm we definitely head up 75 away from the D.
Not trying to start any crap with the decision, just wondering about it.

FWIW this is the first time I've gone into the D from 69/75.
I found it to be easier than the old 196/696 route.
I also wondered what the difference in mileage was.
Now if there was a way not to have to take M59 I'd like that. That road sucked balls with the construction and current potholes.

Don't ever make the mistake of taking M59 from Howell to 75. You will want to slam your car into a brick wall at 100 so you don't ever have to drive it again.

What happened to Bluedevilcabbys blue cabby? I saw it at target, but did not see it cruising or at the show?

UGHH my wheels are big? I guess i do drive slow for reasons of trying to stay outta trouble
