  • As side note, I will be trying to source a disc upgrade for the front, and discs for the rear. If anyone has a lead on a cheap way to do this I'm all ears :) Also, Jason, what kind of parts you got mang?

    • That looks fantastic! Really glad you decided to stick with the original color.
      Bad decisions make excellent stories.

      • This is very exiting. Can't wait to see it come together.

Did the body shop soda blast the whole car? Is that something they do in house?

Hey had a guy come in and do it. That was the whole reason the rockers were replaced, blasting tends to find hidden back side rust :)

            • I'm also glad you stuck with the Whisper Blue!

Still my favorite car I've ever owned (and miss it), glad you're giving her the love she deserves! ❤️

-The mk3 10.1" Brakes is a good setup for the 4x100.
-Also the 4x100 Corrado 11" is great but you need minimum 15" wheels and I think the master cylinder need increased size if its a 20mm get a 22mm master.

-If you go the 5x100 route I would do the early vr6 style pre 1996.

Rears disc is all from a scirocco and a mk2, hub and brackets, also recommend grab the rear proportioning valve from a scirocco 2. Will also need some brake hoses for the rear calipers, I would run the mk4 ones personally, but mk3 rear calipers are good too. Mk1 and MK2 rear calipers are a joke. I wouldn't run either of them, the mk3 and mk4 stands the test of time.

All this can be cheap if you get used from good cars, unless these items are on a shelf somewhere.

Mk2 issues got you down? Got a question? PM me, and i'll try and help you out for what I can.

                          • I think I'm going to keep it 4 x 100 for now. Thanks for all that info Dave! I need the hub and everything for the MK3 10.1 right?

                              Yep,
-Knuckle, with ball joint (they are bigger than the mk1)
                              -Caliper with full brake hose
                              -Caliper bracket
                              -Pads
                              -Rotors

Just a little note but I cant remember if the 3 holes for the ball joint that goes through the mk1's control arm fully line up but they might need a filing the hole a little bit. That could be for VR6 ball joints but its been a awhile since I have done this.

Equally for 10.1" brakes that are direct bolt on, get stuff from a late model scirocco 2. This includes the upright, caliper and carrier. You can also get the rear disc brakes from the S2 as well. Grab the rear stub axle as well.

                                New paint looks awesome
