  • MK1 Rabbit Project Thread: V1BR8T0R

So, I picked up Paul's old shell from Zach. Nice dude. Anyways, this will be a space for brainstorming and project updates. I will be looking for input from you guys, and I will thank Paul in advance for making the engine bay so nice for me :)

Here is the car as she sits right now.

    Goals:

Fix the rust and paint the car: Cosmic green (Tony), whisper blue with crushed glass mixed in, or 1966 Corvette Mosport green
    Duckbill
Euro bumpers for now, shorty's later
    New black hella tail lights
    Wheels: TBD
Rip the interior out and fix up/repair/replace worn parts
Drivetrain: VR6 using Eurowise conversion kit (so I can go back to stock someday?)
Brakes: Disc brakes all the way around
    5 lug conversion
    New bushings everywhere
    New wheel bearings

      You got it Joe!

Here's my dilemma, Vr6 or built 16v? If I went Vr6 I would have around 2 grand into all the parts and pieces minus trans for a direct drop in. OR, do I try to find a 16v and spend around 1k for cams, port and polish, USRT ITB kit, software and the likes? Realistically, how much would I have to spend to get 12v vr6 power out of a 16v?

Keep the early square front. Otherwise approve of the plans!

I'd say go VR just cause there aren't many around. Plus I'm sure it would be a blast to drive.

The Eurowise kit seems like the route to go for motor mounts, plus you get axles and a core support literally making a vr6 drop in. Then you connect up 5 wires and GO. It's 1.2k for that kit though. One thing I don't want to do is weld new motor mounts in the engine bay, thus using the Eurowise kit. It eats up a chunk of change though!

                      Yes!
The eurowise kit makes the vr6 swap simple though it's kind of pricy, all of which you said.

I have round headlight stuff that I'm probably not going to use on my truck if you don't have anything.

vr6 would be sweet, sound mean and be a blast.
