  • Newer Laptop...wanna install Leopard on it...HELP!

Just like I said, I bought this laptop off a buddy for cheap. I bought a brand new Hard Drive cuz he kept the old one with all his stuff on it and I want to install MAC OSX Leopard on it as the main/only operating system. Is this possible with an AMD processor? Any information you might have would be great. I have done some research/still am researching....but any help is awesome. Thanks in advanced!

          Hey Bill... Can we talk?...

What are the specs on the laptop? There are a ton of distros out for this, but it isn't for the faint of heart. Some systems are very buggy.

I researched it once for a friend, it's possible, but not very easy. I don't remember the specifics but a little google searching for things like OSX AMD could be a good place to start.

if your laptop falls under the compatible lists there it can be run. Keep in mind, it's slow in comparison to running it on an apple optimized machine. It's honestly not worth it. Why would you really ever care to run OSX though? It's pretty and all, but so? It's an OS not a painting on the wall.

I'm currently triple booting 7, XP and Ubuntu... Just use a solid Linux distro if you don't want viruses when looking at porn.

I'll see what I can come up with. Do you have a retail Leopard or Snow Leopard disc?
Some of the newer hardware can be loaded with a retail disc and Boot 123 or Chameleon.

                      How computer savvy are you?

I haven't yet purchased one yet since I wasn't sure if it was going to work but I planned on goin with Leopard just because apples website says the Snow Leopard needs a MAC with Intel processor....

I'm fairly good with computers. I've never had to take my computer anywhere to get fixed, I've always done it myself. Let me know what you come up with. Thanks alot Jay!

Snow will run on an AMD hackintosh. The Intel only just means it needs to be x86 architecture and not Power PC.

Do you dual boot it or is it your main/only operating system? Was it a b!tch installing of the drivers and stuff or did it all work as if it was out of box? Thanks for any and all info!
