  • "Do you know why I pulled you over?" Rant

Gott love the police when its a holiday weekend. I got pulled over friday night. Wasnt speeding, was using the turn signals and wasn't even blaring the radio, my lady and I were just talking and as soon as I turned onto my street, *whep whep* and I look back, aww EEFFF! I love waiting for them to walk up, it always takes them at least 5 min. Well I threw my keys on the dash got my licence ins and reg, gave it to him then he says, Do you know what i pulled you over for? (i was thinking, I got a red hatchback?!?!) I said ughgh no? "Well For one your exhaust is Too loud." (LOL TT exhaust with dynomax i do have a cat on it also) I said "It is?" "Well yeah if I can hear it with my windows up its too loud." I thought so when did police cruisers become decibel meters? huh. Then He responded, "Your, window is cracked and is blocking your view." To that i agree it need to be replaced. "So do you live at this current location?" I answered "Yes." "Well why haven't you changed your address? You do know thats a misdemeaner?" I replied, "I had NO idea, but I'll get that straightened out ASAP"

So then i recieved a ticket,
    257.70P19 Cracked windshield,
257.707B(1) Defective Exhaust-- What does that intail?? Bad exhaust?
    Warning: Fail to change address

The whole exhaust thing im confused about I mean i used to live in wyoming near g-rapids and i never got pulled over for a loud exhaust. Ive had this on for over 3yrs now. The deputy told me to get the exhaust fixed and then have any type of officer inspect it. I am screwd people I dont have to money for stupid factory type muffler. Anyways that is my rant on why I hate the question "Do you know why I pulled you over"
    Dave

Mk2 issues got you down? Got a question? PM me, and i'll try and help you out for what I can.

Easy fix. Since no other cop has ever given you shit about it, just have any other cop "inspect it" as-is. Since it's reasonable, they'll probably say it's fine and your done. :ugh!:

you can walk up to ANY police officer and have them sign the ticket. They will have you turn the car on and possibly rev it. then it they agree that it is reasonable they will sign the ticket and oyu are good to go.

dude, that's shitty. sounds like you were the victim of a power tripping cop. what everyone else said, go have another police officer look at it, i'm sure they'll sign off on it.

Maybe you should live in Detroit where people drive around with NO back glass, smashed up / driving crooked down the road hoopties. I even saw this dude driving with his head out the window because someone had thrown something through his windshield. yeah, he pulled into the liqueur store and carried on like it was no big thing.

oh... and similar to Matt, the last time I had a fix-it ticket cleared on my car, the cop also didn't even walk out of the station. He just signed off on it at the counter. lol

I've had 2 tickets for loud exhaust. 1 on my old jetta (ex gf's dad was a cop so he waived it) and one on the cabby. then i got a fix it ticket for tint on the gti...he used the security camera's to do the inspection on that though :p

The best answer to any question a cop asks you? Silence.

yeah cuz that won't make the cop F with you more.

i'd love to be in the car when you get pulled over and say nothing to the cop. there is nothing wrong with answering any questions they ask, if u feel its crossing a line then u can shut up or tell them you wont answer it. they will definitely F with you more if you dont say anything.
