  • "Highway Harlequin"- my Artprize submission (vw content)

Some of you may recall a prior post of mine where I was looking for a jeep fender and holes shot in my gas tank for a sculpture I was making. Well it is done and hung downtown GR in the ledyard bldg at 150 Ottawa. I am having pro pics done but wanted to post asap to get the word out.
Back in the day when Harlequins entertained royalty they had fancy costumes, but as they and there costume aged, they began patchwork repairs in an attempt to maintain there public appeal. That is how the classic Harlequin patchwork was born.
I visualized what a Harlequin would drive, and this is that vision.
Several things spin or flash, so Please go and see it!
I am having an invite reception there on Friday 25th from 6 to 10, and want Mivers there.

If you like it, vote 31721
    All construtive comments are welcome
BTW,this is taken prior to final panel tweaks, and anti-glare measures, but you get the idea.
    Updated pics are coming!

Wow, that looks like it turned out great! I'd love to see it in person. :wavey:
If voting could really change things, the government would likely make it illegal.

I think it was one of those late night beer induced conversations when someone asked what kind of car a Harlequin would drive. Few people know that the original Harlequin costume was very fancy, but did not achieve the diamond or patchwork look until it had begun to age and wear out. The harlequin would mend itself however it could in order to maintain an appealing appearance and therefore it's desireability.
Having grown up in a U.P. family owned car dealership, I have seen alot of cars which looked very similar to this, and so creating the Highway Harlequin seemed very natural.
